With New Year’s Eve officially in the rearview mirror, it’s time to start looking ahead to your next family holiday getaway here in the great state of Wisconsin. Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center is one of the only Lake Michigan beach resorts that host St. Patrick’s Day festivities, on top of all the other spectacular daily events here in Sheboygan, WI. We’re gladly welcoming back the talented Glencastle Irish Dancers to Blue Harbor. You’ll also have an opportunity to indulge in a traditional fish fry paired with a flagon of Irish beer. When you’re not celebrating the life of Ireland’s patron saint, treat the entire family to an afternoon of splashes, surfing, and relaxation inside Breaker Bay, the only Sheboygan water park.
Glencastle Irish Dancers
These talented young performers from Franklin, WI, are back again for another St. Patrick’s performance. The Glencastle Irish Dancers will be performing on Friday evening at 7 p.m. in our beautiful Grand Lobby. This world-renowned traditional dancing school out of nearby Franklin, a Milwaukee suburb, has been gracious enough to treat our guests to a genuinely entertaining show over the past several years. The half-hour show is entirely free, and your little ones can learn some dance moves after the show.
Old-Fashioned Irish Fare
Before or after the performance, remember to join us inside the Peninsula Room for an old-fashioned fish fry. As it usually does, lent falls on St. Patrick’s weekend, so we’ll be treating our green-clad patrons with a traditional fresh-caught fish fry. An old-fashioned fish try is commonplace during lent here in the Midwest among Catholics. Nearly 80 percent of the Irish are Catholic, so they’ve been enjoying fish fries long before North America was discovered. Our fish fry, which starts at just $15 per person, features a starter, fried entree, and potato option. We will be preparing beer-battered Pacific cod, baked Pacific cod, local fried perch, potato-crusted walleye, and popcorn shrimp.
Flagons of Ale at Blue Harbor Resort
You’re also encouraged to stop by On the Rocks Bar & Grill for a flagon of ale throughout the weekend. We’re planning on having a large selection of imported Irish beer, locally-brewed Irish red ales, and several favorites on tap. You can wear green, but remember to cheer on the Wisconsin Badgers as they battle for a Big Ten basketball title in Chicago. You can watch every Badgers game inside On the Rocks this March.
Irishman’s Walk in Plymouth
Feel free to join the Irish festivities on Saturday morning in nearby Plymouth. The annual Irishman’s Walk is a makeshift parade of friendly, green-painted local Wisconsinites who stroll through downtown Plymouth in honor of Saint Patrick. The walk usually begins at 11 a.m., but this year’s details are still pending.
