Summer is slowly fading into the horizon here in beautiful Sheboygan, Wisconsin, signifying that we’re on the cusp of the coziest season of the year. Tourists flock to eastern Wisconsin every autumn to witness breathtaking fall foliage, soak and splash in the Breaker Bay Waterpark, and sip on delicious brews at the annual Blue Harbor Craft Beer Festival. The Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center, supreme among Lake Michigan resorts, is also home to one of Sheboygan’s best bars: On the Rocks Bar & Grill. After a full day of leaf peeping, waterslides, and massage therapy, seek out these three establishments for a refreshing adult beverage.
On the Rocks Bar & Grill
Very few Lake Michigan resorts can match Blue Harbor Resort’s wide variety of dining and cocktail options. Sip on a glass of wine on our lake-view deck, grab a refreshing cocktail at our poolside bar, or head indoors to the inviting, nautical-inspired On the Rocks Bar & Grill, located just off the resort lobby. On the Rocks is the best four-season bar in the town because of its breathtaking Lake Michigan vistas. Choose from an extensive collection of regional craft beer, delicious signature cocktails, and house wine from Broken Earth Winery, the largest 100 percent solar-powered winery in America.
3 Sheeps Brewing Company
The annual Blue Harbor Craft Beer Festival is one of the top autumn events in Wisconsin. We’re partnering once again this year with our good friends from 3 Sheeps, a Sheboygan-based brewing company with mouthwatering beer on the north side of town. 3 Sheeps’ taproom has quickly become the premier hangout in Sheboygan. Their massive, industrial space features long wooden-plank tables, nine-beer flights, a game room, and twice-weekly brewery tours.
3 Sheeps brew their beer with “heart and science,” and the result is stunningly delicious. Their most popular beer is the Cashmere Hammer, a rich, creamy, and earthy stout that locals stock up on gameday. 3 Sheeps’ dark beer is their bread and butter, so remember to try as many of them as you possibly can! Happy Summer, a well-balanced American IPA, uses three hop varieties to entice hopheads. You’ll revisit 3 Sheeps every time you’re in Sheboygan – we guarantee it.
The Duke of Devon
One of the more interesting taverns in eastern Wisconsin is The Duke of Devon, an English riverfront pub and eatery across the Sheboygan River from the Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center. From the moment you arrive, you’ll know The Duke of Devon isn’t your average pub. The outside features picturesque, weathered wood siding and an authentic hanging sign with their unique English-American crest. The interior has ancient stained glass, hundreds of framed photographs, English flags, and maps of the United Kingdom. This cozy and charming pub has bourbon, gin, and scotch flights, bloody marys, and a large selection of European beer.
