Emagining Sheboygan

This weekend only, Seven Ages Theatricals presents Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” At City Green in Downtown Sheboygan, and I had the honor of attending the dress rehearsal to get a sneak peak at the show ahead of time so I can share about it on my blog!

A few weeks ago, some of the Team Blue members and I got to head up to Egg Harbor to visit Door County Coffee Co. and tour their building. Today, I am happy to share about this trip, as well as announce on this blog that Shoreline Café in Blue Harbor Resort will now be serving Door County Coffee! I’m pumped about this exciting update for a couple of reasons, which I’m about to share.

As summer fades to fall, there's a window of opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape Sheboygan has to offer. Being summer-loving yet fall-embracing, Em will assure you that Sheboygan is the destination you’ll want to visit this time of year. 

In last week's blog, I unveiled some of the fall fun happening around the Sheboygan area in the coming weeks, but this week I am returning to summer content. Afterall, it's still the summer season and I am all about fun in the sun, warm weather, days by the beach, and enjoying all the sweetness summer brings this time of year. So let's talk about how to soak up the most summer relaxation out of these last few weeks as possible.

It’s one of the biggest weeks of the summer at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wisconsin: Powerboat Racing! Welcoming the powerboat races back to the shores of Lake Michigan for a second year, the Sheboygan Midwest Challenge is the event of the summer and there’s plenty of festivity packed into this weekend. With competitors flocking to our very own Malibu of the Midwest from around the globe, both racers, watersport enthusiasts, families, and thrill seekers are sure to enjoy this exciting weekend of competition taking place on the waves of Lake Michigan.

Growing up, I was obsessed with fairytales, magic, medieval times, and mythical creatures. I remember one summer, my parents took my little sister and I to a fairy festival somewhere in Wisconsin in the woods. We got to dress up in our fairy costumes, build fairy houses in a contest, get our faces painted, and listen to stories being read to us by a grown-up fairy under a canopy of pine trees. I’ll never forget how special going to this festival was, and although I may be in my 20’s now, when I learned that the Bookworm Gardens was hosting a Fairy Folk Festival for a fairy-themed week this summer, I was filled with excitement.

Summer means many things to me: happiness, sunshine, spending as much time outdoors as possible, picnics in parks, long days at the beach reading under the sun and splashing in the waves, ice cream and iced coffees, pasta salads and watermelon, watching sunsets and going on evening walks through neighborhoods, outdoor dining, and live music. Live music is a distinctly summer-coded activity to me, I adore everything about it. I grew up in a very musical family, and going to see live music outdoors is something I’ve done every summer.  Here are five places to find live music throughout summer in Sheboygan!

Juicy watermelon, dripping dreamsicles, sizzling hot dogs, and sweating spritzers; summer is home to some of our favorite flavors. There is no better time for outdoor cookouts, picnic bench lunches, and patio dinner dining; glasses of wine lingering from late afternoon to well past sunset. The anticipation for the summer season is not just for kids eagerly waiting for school to end, the flavors of summer are unique to this season of longer days and warmer temperatures. A couple of months ago, I put together a blog with suggestions for having a girl’s weekend trip to Sheboygan; including suggestions for where to go out for food and drinks, shops to visit, activities to do as a group, and other local gems to enjoy. I decided it’s time for suggestions for a guy’s weekend. I consulted with my partner on some of his favorite attractions in Sheboygan that he thinks would make for the perfect guys trip in Sheboygan.
